Wow!! Time flies when you’re having fun!! The Lodge has been very busy this past
couple of months and the schedule for the rest of the year looks just as busy. Keep your
eyes and ears open for updates on Lodge functions as they seem to change on a daily basis.
Many of our volunteers are looking forward to having the summer off. (Is there ever time
off for our volunteers?)

I want to give a big thank you and job well done to all our volunteers. It is impossible to
list all their deeds in this letter but when you see them please say THANK YOU! They
deserve it. If it was not for our volunteers it would be impossible to continue to provide
Lodge events and sure would make it difficult to keep the doors open.

Does anybody know what is in the water? Or is it because we have not seen sunlight for
a month!! I do wish we could all get along and be the “Moose” Fraternity we are. As
members we are all here to support two things and at the same time have fun. One being,
Mooseheart, the other being Moosehaven. Did you realize it costs about $37 million a year
to operate and maintain these programs? Where does this money come from you ask?
Well it comes from our members conducting fundraisers and donations.

Pavilion update! We are continuing our work to get a permit to hold functions on the
pavilion and we will be enclosing it with a fence soon. Does anyone have any outdoor
games they can donate to the Lodge?? Horse shoes, steel posts. Bean bag tosses? Ladder
golf games? Etc. If you do please bring them to the Lodge. We will be using them this
summer and fall. Maybe we can have a couple of tournaments??

REMINDER. The Lodge goes non-smoking Monday 5 July 2010.

Update!! The new doors for the Social Quarters are being completed. Only one side will
be done at this time. Hall side will be completed at a later date. Thank You to all those
supporting the Taco Tuesday event as this is what is paying for the artwork. Hope to see
you back later this year.

We have many upcoming events at the Lodge. What will it take for our members to start
attending Lodge functions? It is very disappointing to me and our volunteers when we do
fundraisers and other functions and we do not see our members attending and joining in on
the fun!!! If you have ideas please bring them to us. Our ears are always open for new
ideas and want to try and do what “you” the “member” wants to do.

Senior Regent's Message

A Bi-Monthly Update from your Senior Regent:

Already we are almost through the 1st Quarter of our year! How time flies. The WOTM
have been kept very busy with events and meetings. I want to thank all our co-workers
who have been attending our meetings. There has been up to 20 attending our meetings
each month. This makes me happy to see them taking an interest in what we are trying to
accomplish. Thank you for all you do for the WOTM!

We held a Pizza, Pasta and Salad Dinner from Sammy’s/Elbo Room before our meting on
June 16th. This gave us time to get to know one another and we discussed the
responsibilities and duties of our Chairmen for each month. After the meeting we enjoyed
dessert and coffee.

I invite our co-workers to join us each month at our meetings held the 1st and 3rd
Wednesday at 7 p.m.

25 Club Member & 50 Club Member –
Congratulations to Mary Remington and Judith Christenson. Mary became a new member
into the 25 Club and Judy Christenson became a new member into the 50 Club. Please
congratulate and thank these ladies when you see them at the Lodge, for their continued
support in building the membership of the WOTM, Thank you, and good work ladies!

Joint Memorial Service for Deceased Members –
The LOOM and WOTM held a Memorial Service for Deceased Members on Sunday, May
23rd. Deceased members of WOTM who were memorialized are: Marlys Gunski,
4/20/2010; Dorothy Lee, 12/02/2009; Betty Anderson, 4/04/2009; Shirley Jussila,
3/26/2009; Lori Kirschbaum, 3/26/2009; Alice Browne, 6/07/2008; Beverly Cole,
11/19/2007; Audrey Wnek, 9/20/2007; Jean Sislo, 8/26/2005; Eunice Sitek, 6/25/2005;
Doris Olson, 6/25/2005. Their family members were mailed invitations to this service.
There were about 40 family members who attended our service. Each family member
received a white rose as a remembrance. Lunch was served after the service. Our Memory
Board was also updated to reflect the names of our decease co-workers.

Memorial Day Service at Greenwood Cemetery –
On Monday, May 31st, our Lodge participated in a Memorial Day Service held at
Greenwood Cemetery. LOOM 606 was represented by Loren Byberg and WOTM 795 was
represented by Connie Nevin. A wreath was laid in the Soldiers Circle in memory of our
fallen soldiers. After the memorial service, the Moose Lodge hosted a luncheon for all the
Veterans services throughout the city who attended. There were over 100 people from
throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Canada who enjoyed the lunch provided by the
Superior Veterans Association members. We thank them for allowing us to help with their
service event each year.

New WOTM Co-Workers enrolled during May/June are –
Sally Roos, sponsored by Mary Remington; Tammy Vollmer, sponsored by Terri Vance;
Tina Sudduth, sponsored by Barb O’Brien; Michelle Sislo, sponsored by Donna Sislo;
Roseann Sumola and Diane Charbonneau, sponsored by Bev Houle; Linda Tabor and
Bonnie Ramel, sponsored by Judy Christenson; Ashley Priem, sponsored by Judy
Remington; Linda Perry, Jennifer Fleischer and Crystal Prior, sponsored by Shirley Aho.

Joint Fundraising Breakfast to benefit Douglas County Special Olympics –
The LOOM and WOTM held a joint fundraising breakfast on Sunday, June 27th, as a
Community Service Project. The breakfast was held at our Moose lodge from 9 a.m. to
Noon. The Moose Legion served an “All you can eat” Pancakes with choice of ham,
sausage or bacon. FREE coffee and juice were served. The WOTM waitressed, cashiered
and held a 50/50 raffle. Thank you to all the local merchants for donating door prizes for
this fundraiser. Also, all our brothers and co-workers who volunteered their time to make
this fundraiser a huge success. All the proceeds from the Breakfast were donated to the
Douglas County Special Olympic Athletes.

Thank You to our members behind the scenes –
Who trims the hedges around the Moose home? It’s Bob Bentley. Who takes care of the
plants around our Moose home? It’s Ken Grimes. Who built the frames for the WOTM
College of Regents photos? It’s Mike Nevin. Who bakes the bread each week for our
Bread sales? It’s Peggy Larson. Who decorates the dining room for holidays and just to
make it look nice? It’s Jo Ann Carlson. Thank you for all you do for our Moose home.

Tommy the Moose –
The WOTM purchased two dozen Tommy the Moose. One dozen will be donated to St.
Mary’s Hospital of Superior Emergency Room and the other dozen will be donated to
Gold Cross Ambulance. The Tommy the Moose will be used as a calming tool for children
who sustain a traumatic injury or ordeal.

Thank you in advance for your donation to the Kathrine Smith Center –
The WOTM are still taking donations in the amount of $6.50/co-worker on behalf of our
donation of $1,404. to Moose Charities for the Kathrine Smith Center. A check for
one-half payment of $702. was made in April to Moose Charities. Please consider making
your commitment of $6.50 donation to WOTM Superior Chapter 795. We appreciate all
you do for the WOTM and Moose International on behalf of the Katherine Smith Center
in Florida.

Donations made by WOTM during May and June are –
LOOM 606 - $400 for kitchen remodeling; Superior High School Grad Party - $100;
Relay for Life - $50; Solid Rock Mission - $100 gift card from Super One and 12 loaves
of homemade bread; Northern Pine Girl Scouts - $50; Local Boy Scout Council - $50;
Jerry Lewis Telethon - $50; Two children from Mooseheart to Dells Days - $100;
Wisconsin Moose Association to replace diseased trees at Mooseheart - $100; sponsor
Mooseheart Senior Grad Photos - $275; Jessica Loveday, Mooseheart Senior Photo
sponsorship, $50 graduation gift. The WOTM could not make these donations without
your help in paying your dues and volunteering for fundraisers throughout the year. Thank
you!

Kitchen Remodeling/Renewal Endeavor –
There was a joint meeting of our membership held on Tuesday, June 10th, at 6 p.m., in the
Dining Room to discuss possibly remodeling our kitchen. There is a need for a new
refrigerator. The WOTM have been making monthly donations to the LOOM for the
purchase of a new refrigerator. So far, we have donated $1,000.
The following LOOM/WOTM are on the committee: Troy Magnuson, Mike Nevin, Chuck
Christenson, Duane Carlson, Ken Grimes, Bryan Reneau, Connie Nevin, Peggy Larson,
Judy Christenson, Judie Piper and, Karen Reneau. Ken Grimes was elected Chairman and
Peggy Larson is Co-Chairman. Connie Nevin was elected Secretary. If you are interested
in attending a meeting, please consider it. We could use your help and suggestions. We
meet on the 4th Tuesday in August at 6 p.m. in the Dining Room.
